Bringing back the wild beauty of Southern Namibia
Scarce rainfall and overgrazing from sheep and goats have depleted the land's vegetation over the last 30 years. Our goal is to revitalize Nature's canvas by restoring vegetation and reintroducing native wildlife – from kudus, zebras, oryx, springboks, to birds and insects!
Our team
We bring together an on-site field team, Namibian students, conservation partners and specialists in ecology, land management and technology.
Work ranges from maintaining boreholes and camera traps to mapping vegetation, removing fences and testing restoration methods.
Our approach
On the plains, half-moons catch seed and rain. In drainage lines, gabions slow erosion and help water infiltrate.
Bush-packing protects bare soil. Boreholes support people and carefully selected planting, while satellite imagery, field surveys and camera traps
help us test our assumptions.
Our local presence
Boreholes need maintaining, fences need moving (or removing), and
someone has to check whether the camera trap caught anything more
interesting than a porcupine last night.
That's our local team, on-site, year-round.
